Practical considerations of dietary therapies for epilepsy in adults

Abstract Despite the increasing number of anti-seizure medications becoming available, proportion patients with drug-resistant epilepsy remains unchanged. Dietary therapy for is well-established practice in paediatric care, but relatively underutilised adults. Recently, international recommendations have been published to guide treatment adults receiving dietary epilepsy. This review focuses on specific aspects care unique management epilepsy, including patient selection, diet composition, initiation, monitoring and cessation treatment. We emphasise need a multidisciplinary team approach appropriately trained neurologists dietitians provide holistic while are therapy. Future research should focus optimal composition meeting psychosocial needs maximise efficacy adherence
